about me

my name’s jess

I’m a writer and a storyteller. I earned a degree in journalism and landed my first job as a staff writer at a community newspaper. Then adventure called, and off I went to travel the world. A year of solo travel led me to roles on in-house creative teams for multinational travel brands—both big names and startups.

After a few international moves, a few layoffs, and a few years spent being more strategic than creative, I took the leap into freelancing, where I built a diverse portfolio of writing and brand strategy work that I’m incredibly proud of. That experience set the stage for a return in-house—this time with a renowned brand, Harvard—where I’ve expanded my skills with new audiences and a new industry.

Throughout the many roles I’ve held, my job has always been to tell stories. The mission-driven, human-centered brands I’ve built and grown have spanned industries, but they’ve all had a strong sense of identity and exuded a sense of place, purpose, or play.

The big-picture thread that ties my experiences together is that I am passionate about people. I believe that when brands communicate with clarity and seek to connect with their audience on a personal level, they can be loved for their personalities as much as they are for their products.
